- 6 medium apples, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine apples, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss to coat.
- Transfer apple mixture to a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, remaining 1/4 cup granulated sugar, and pecans (if using).
- Cut in cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Sprinkle oat mixture evenly over the apples.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- For a crispier topping, broil for the last 1-2 minutes, watching carefully to prevent burning.
